Training Practice
Training at the Worthing Medical Group
Worthing Medical Group is a training practice for both resident doctors and student nurses. This means we play a vital role in educating the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Resident Doctors
Resident Doctors were previously referred to as Junior Doctors or GP Trainees, which you may have heard of before.
Resident Doctors are fully qualified Doctors undertaking further training to become Consultants, GPs (General Practitioners), or Specialists in particular areas of medicine.
They are an integral part of our team and provide direct patient care under the supervision of senior GPs who supervise them throughout the working day.

What they do
- Provide direct patient care.
- Gain experience in a specialised field of medicine.
- Work in hospitals or clinics (including our own practice).
- Work under the supervision of experienced Consultants and GPs.
Training Duration
The length of residency training about qualifying as a Doctor varies depending on the chosen specialty. For example:
- GP training: 3 to 4 years
- Surgical specialties: 7 or more years
Career Progression
Upon completion of their residency, Doctors become Consultants, GPs, or other Medical Specialists.
Student Nurses
We also provide training placements for Student Nurses, who are individuals training to become a Registered Nurse. They are enrolled in a nursing program at a hospital or nursing school.
What they do
Student nurses gain practical experience through clinical rotations within our Practice. They work under the supervision of a qualified nursing instructor and our experienced nursing staff. This hands-on experience is essential for their development as nurses.
By training both Resident Doctors and Student Nurses, Worthing Medical Group contributes to the development of highly skilled healthcare professionals and ensures the future of quality patient care.
