About your child's vaccination appointment

Before the appointment:

• Inform the surgery who will be taking the child, if neither a parent nor guardian can attend.
• If neither a parent nor guardian can attend, please ensure written consent is bought for each immunisation required.
• Take your 'red book' to the appointment

During the appointment our nurse will check:

• Your child's general health, and what medicines they may be taking
• Which vaccines your child is going to have
• That you understand what diseases they protect against
• That you are aware of possible side effects and how to manage them
• That you are happy to go ahead

After the vaccination:

Please ensure the details of the vaccination (including the site of injection) are recorded your child’s red book. This information may be needed later in life, for example for employment or travel.

If you miss an appointment

Please inform the surgery as soon as possible if you are unable to bring your child to the appointment, and rearrange your child’s appointment as soon as you can - Our reception team will be happy to help with this.
